About Alex – Consulting Arborist, AQF Level 5

Alex Nowell is a qualified AQF Level 5 Arborist and the founder of Byron Bay Tree Services, a trusted name in arboriculture across Northern NSW and Southeast QLD. His passion for trees began early studying Bonsai at age 12, and today he brings over 25 years of hands-on experience in tree care, arborist reporting, and vegetation management.

Alex began working in the tree services industry in 1996, and for over two decades successfully operated Byron Bay Tree Services as a leading tree removal and arborist contracting business. During this time, he encountered complex tree issues that required high-level consulting expertise, prompting him to attain his Diploma of Arboriculture (AQF Level 5).

In 2024, Alex transitioned Byron Bay Tree Services into a dedicated Arboricultural Consulting Firm, specialising in tree protection, retention, and expert reporting for development applications, tree risk assessments, and legal matters. His focus is on helping clients—including councils, developers, and private landowners—make informed, sustainable decisions about tree management.

Alex collaborates with a trusted network of senior arborists and stays current with the latest industry standards and methodologies in tree risk and vegetation assessment.
